卦辞The Judgement

小畜：亨；密云不雨，自我西郊。Xiǎo Xù. Prosperous and smooth. Dense clouds, yet no rain — they come from our western outskirts.

积累的力量还不足以成大事，只能做小范围的事。下乾为天，居西北，五行属金，刚健欲行；上巽为风，居东南，五行属木，柔顺而入。金本克木，但这里风在天上吹，力量不大——把云吹散了，雨下不来。乌云密布但还下不了雨——条件在累积，但还没到爆发的时候。耐心积蓄，慢慢来。

The force gathered isn't yet enough for major action — only smaller moves are possible. The lower trigram Qián is Heaven, in the northwest, element Metal, firm and eager to move; the upper trigram Xùn is Wind, in the southeast, element Wood, yielding and entering. Metal normally checks Wood, but here the wind only blows high in the sky, with little force — it scatters the clouds, and the rain can't fall. Clouds are dense but the rain hasn't come: conditions are building, but the breaking point isn't here yet. Stockpile patiently, take your time.

大象The Image

《象》曰：风行天上，“小畜”；君子以懿文德。Wind moves across the sky: the image of Small Restraint. The noble one, accordingly, refines the grace of culture and character.

六爻The Six Lines

初九Initial Nine

初九，复自道，何其咎？吉。Returning to one's own way. How could there be fault? Good fortune.

走错了路就回到正轨上，没什么大不了。乾金初爻，刚起步——偏了赶紧回头，金还在，没损耗。早期的迷失只要及时纠正，损失很小。承认错误反而是吉祥的开始。

If you've taken a wrong turn, just come back to the right path — no big deal. Qián's Metal, first line, just starting out — stray and turn back at once, the metal is still intact, nothing lost. Catching the misstep early keeps the loss small. Owning the mistake is itself the beginning of good fortune.

九二Second Nine

九二，牵复，吉。Drawn back together. Good fortune.

跟着前面的人一起回头、一起调整方向，是明智之举。九二阳爻居中，乾金正气——跟着正道走，不独自硬闯。不需要独自做决定——团体的力量比个人判断更可靠。

Turning back together with the people ahead of you, adjusting course as a group, is the wise move. The second line, yang, centered, Qián's upright metal-energy — follow the right road, don't go charging off alone. You don't have to decide alone — collective judgment is more reliable than personal hunch.

九三Third Nine

九三，舆说辐，夫妻反目。The cart loses its spokes. Husband and wife look away from each other.

事情在关键时刻散架（车轮脱落），亲密关系出现严重分歧（夫妻反目）。九三阳爻过刚，乾金硬碰巽风——金木相克，结构崩了。这是结构性问题，不是修修补补能解决的——需要正视根本原因。

Things fall apart at a critical joint (the wheel breaks), and an intimate relationship cracks (the partners no longer face each other). The third line, yang, over-firm, Qián's hard Metal striking Xùn's Wind — metal and wood clash, and the structure gives way. This is structural — not something patching can fix. You need to look at the root cause.

六四Fourth Six

六四，有孚；血去惕出，无咎。Sincerity is present; the bleeding stops, the fear goes. No fault.

用真诚的心去化解可能的危险，远离麻烦、避开冲突。六四阴爻进入巽卦——风开始起作用，柔能化刚。心怀诚意做事，自然有人替你说话、保你周全。

Defuse the danger with sincerity; step clear of the trouble, sidestep the conflict. The fourth line, yin, enters Xùn — the wind begins to work, softness dissolving hardness. Carry honest intent in everything you do, and someone will always speak up for you and keep you whole.

九五Fifth Nine

九五，有孚挛如，富以其邻。Sincere, and binding closely. Wealth shared with one's neighbors.

用你的真诚和影响力，把身边的人凝聚起来——九五阳爻居中，乾金在尊位，被巽风带动——金虽刚硬，但风能把它传得更远，分享好处、共担责任。一个人富不算富，带着圈子一起好才是大格局。

Use your sincerity and standing to gather the people around you — the fifth line, yang, centered, Qián's Metal in the honored place, carried by Xùn's wind — metal is hard, but the wind can carry it further — share the gains, share the load. To be rich alone isn't really rich. Bringing the circle up with you is the larger move.

上九Top Nine

上九，既雨既处，尚德载；妇贞厉，月几望；君子征凶。The rain has come, now it stops; the virtue has been fully borne. For the wife, steadfastness brings danger. The moon is nearly full. For the superior person to press onward: misfortune.

已经下了雨、聚集了财富、达到了想要的状态。上九阳爻到极处——积蓄满了，雨也下了。这时最危险——满足容易变成贪婪。坚持现在就好，再贪进会前功尽弃。

You've already gotten the rain, gathered the wealth, reached the state you wanted. The top line, yang, at its extreme — the store is full, the rain has fallen. This is the most dangerous moment — satisfaction slides easily into greed. Hold here. Pushing for more puts everything you just earned at risk.
