You're walking a dangerous road ("treading on the tiger's tail"), but if you carry the right respect, hold proper conduct, and don't break the rules, you'll come through safely. Courtesy, proportion, and care are your most important armor right now.
大象The Image
Heaven above, the lake below: the image of Treading. The noble one, accordingly, distinguishes high from low and settles the will of the people.
六爻The Six Lines
Treading plainly. Going forward: no fault.
Hold to your original self and walk forward in simple, plain fashion — no error. You don't need to put on costumes, attach yourself to anyone, or take any shortcut. Just being who you are is your greatest asset.
Treading the broad and level road. The recluse, steadfast and upright: good fortune.
On a level open road, mind at peace, going your own way. Doing your work quietly, not leaning on anyone, keeping your own rhythm — these are how this turn goes well.
The half-blind tries to see, the lame tries to walk. Treading on the tiger's tail and being bitten. Misfortune. The fighter acts for the great prince.
Pushing forward when you know your ability isn't enough, advancing when you know the risk is high — getting hurt is guaranteed. Either accept your limits and step back, or get real expert help. Don't go on bravado.
Treading on the tiger's tail. With caution, caution. In the end, good fortune.
The danger is real, but you're alert enough and careful enough to come through. Don't go for courage here — go for the trembling, walking-on-thin-ice carefulness that this moment asks for.
Resolutely treading. Steadfastness: adversity.
Decisive action isn't wrong, but the very decisiveness itself carries risk. When you act, make sure you really are standing on the right ground — decisive plus right is the only combination that doesn't cost you for cutting fast.
Look back over the treading, examine the omens; turn full circle — sublime good fortune.
Look back at the road you've walked, see whether it has all been smooth, whether it has stayed on the right path — — and if so, what lies just ahead is your best outcome. This is a moment of summary, of harvest, of fruit ripening to fall.
