卦辞The Judgement

兑：亨，利贞。Duì. Prosperous and smooth. Favorable to be steadfast and upright.

喜悦、愉快、和睦相处的时机。兑居西方，五行属金——双泽相连，水水相润。西方是“说言乎兑”之位，万物在这里成熟、收获、开口说话。和身边的人开心地交流、分享、协作。但喜悦要建立在正道上——为了取悦别人而失去原则的“和”是危险的。

A time of joy, delight, and good fellowship. Duì sits in the west, element Metal — two lakes joined, water moistening water. The west is the place of “speaking with delight in Duì,” where all things ripen, are harvested, and open their mouths to speak. Exchange happily, share happily, and work happily with those around you. But joy must rest on the right path — the "harmony" that gives up principle to please others is dangerous.

大象The Image

《象》曰：丽泽，兑；君子以朋友讲习。Two lakes joined: the image of the Joyous. The noble one, accordingly, joins with friends to discuss and practice together.

六爻The Six Lines

初九Initial Nine

初九，和兑，吉。Joyful in harmony. Good fortune.

和谐的喜悦——兑泽初爻，水刚汇——吉，最自然、最纯粹的快乐，吉。这是最自然、最纯粹的快乐——不需要刻意。

Harmonious joy — Duì's Lake, first line, the water just gathered — the most natural, purest happiness — good fortune. The simplest and purest kind of happiness — needing no effort to put on.

九二Second Nine

九二，孚兑，吉，悔亡。Sincerely joyful. Good fortune. Regret vanishes.

用真诚带来喜悦——兑泽居中，水质最清——吉，悔意消失，诚信是喜悦的根本，吉，悔意消失。诚信是喜悦的根本。

Joy brought by sincerity — Duì's Lake centered, the water at its clearest — good fortune, regret gone, for sincerity is the root of joy — good fortune, regret gone. Sincerity is the root of joy.

六三Third Six

六三，来兑，凶。Coming with flattery for joy. Misfortune.

讨好式的、来求的喜悦——兑泽到三爻，水开始浑浊——凶，为讨好别人而强颜欢笑，凶。为讨好别人而强颜欢笑，是不健康的状态。

A pleasing-others kind of joy, a coming-and-begging kind of joy — Duì's Lake at the third line, the water turning turbid — forcing a smile to please others — misfortune. Forcing a smile to please others is not a healthy state.

九四Fourth Nine

九四，商兑未宁，介疾有喜。Deliberating over joy. Not at ease. Keep away from harm; then there is happiness.

对不同选择心怀犹豫——兑泽到四爻，水面波动——但能经过严格辨别后选择正确的，会有喜事，但能经过严格的辨别后选择正确的，会有喜事。

Wavering between different choices — Duì's Lake at the fourth line, the surface rippling — but one who sifts strictly and chooses right will meet good things — but the one who can sift carefully and choose the right will meet good things.

九五Fifth Nine

九五，孚于剥，有厉。Sincerity toward the corrupting. There is danger.

对剥削、伤害自己的人还心存信任——兑泽居中但被侵犯——危险，看清谁在消耗你，危险。看清谁在消耗你，及时止损。

Still trusting those who would exploit and harm you — Duì's Lake centered but encroached upon — danger; see who is draining you — danger. See clearly who is draining you, and cut your losses in time.

上六Top Six

上六，引兑。Induced joy.

被引诱着去取悦——兑泽到极处，水被引走——这种被动的喜悦不光彩，这种被动的喜悦不光彩。要主动选择自己的快乐，不被牵着走。

Being led into joy — Duì's Lake at its extreme, the water drawn off — this passive happiness lacks honor — this kind of passive happiness lacks honor. Choose your own pleasures actively; do not be led.
