The Judgement
Zhèn. Prosperous and smooth. The thunder comes — startled, startled! Laughing and talking — ha, ha! The thunder rouses a hundred li. The sacrificial spoon and chalice are not spilled.
A sudden tremor, a fright, a violent change — it may be a crisis, an accident, a shock. Zhèn sits in the east, element Wood — two Zhèn stacked, thunderclap upon thunderclap. The east is the place where “the ruler comes forth in Zhèn,” where all things wake at the sound of thunder. But the tremor is also a wakening; it can rouse one from numbness. Stay cool, do not lose composure in the face of danger, hold the inside firm.
大象The Image
Thunder upon thunder: the image of the Arousing. The noble one, accordingly, in fear and trembling sets himself in order and examines himself.

The shock makes you start — Zhèn's Wood, first line, the thunder just sounded — yet once steadied, you can laugh; one who recovers from a fright and reflects ends in good fortune — but afterward you can laugh. To recover from a fright and reflect on it is itself good fortune.
The thunder comes. Danger. Great loss of treasures. Climbing the nine hills. Do not chase. In seven days, regained.

The shock is real and the loss great (the treasures lost) — Zhèn's Wood centered, the thunder at its loudest — the goods lost, fleeing to high ground; don't chase, in seven days they return — flee to high ground. Do not chase the loss; in seven days it returns of itself. What the shock takes away, time will give back.
The thunder comes — uneasy, uneasy. Yet moving with the thunder: no trouble.
Thunder leaves you dazed, uneasy — Zhèn's Wood at the third line, the thunder rolling on — but keep moving and there's no harm; don't be stunned into stillness — but as long as you keep moving, you avoid harm. Don't be stunned into stillness.
The thunder comes. Stuck in the mud.
After the shock, mired — Zhèn's Wood at the fourth line, the thunder struck into mud — stuck fast, the moment passing without one's real ability brought out — unable to move. In a state like this, one cannot bring out one's real ability; let the moment pass.
The thunder comes, back and forth. Danger. No great loss. There are matters to attend to.

The thunder comes from every direction — Zhèn's Wood centered but a yin line — hold the center, protect the core, and the loss stays small; the heart of the shock is composure — dangerous, but if one holds the center and protects the core the damage is small. The heart of the matter is composure.
The thunder comes — trembling, trembling. Gazes about, wild. Going forward: misfortune. If the thunder does not reach oneself but only the neighbor, no fault. There are words from the in-laws.
The shock leaves one helpless and dazed — Zhèn's Wood at its extreme, the thunder distant but its menace lingering — forward brings misfortune, yet the shock has struck the neighbor, not you; take it as warning and step aside — to move forward brings misfortune. But since the danger has only struck the neighbor and not you, take it as a warning and step away — that is enough.
