兑上 · 艮下Lake over Mountain

卦辞The Judgement

咸：亨，利贞；取女吉。Xián. Prosperous and smooth. Favorable to be steadfast and upright. To take a wife: good fortune.

心灵感应、相互吸引、感情交流的时机。艮山在下属土居东北，兑泽在上属金居西方——山上有泽，泽水往下渗，山体往上吸水，二者互感。土生金，山是泽的母亲，泽是山的女儿，阴阳相吸是自然本能。无论是恋爱、合作、还是建立联盟——真诚的感应比任何技巧都重要。但感应要“以虚受人”——心要空、要开放，不能带着算计。

A time of resonance between hearts, mutual attraction, the exchange of feeling. The lower trigram Gèn is Mountain, element Earth, in the northeast; the upper trigram Duì is Lake, element Metal, in the west — the lake rests on the mountain, its water seeping down while the mountain draws it up, the two responding to each other. Earth generates Metal: the mountain is the lake's mother, the lake the mountain's daughter, and the pull between yin and yang is the most natural instinct of all. Whether in love, in partnership, or in alliance — genuine resonance matters more than any technique. But resonance asks that you "receive others with an empty heart" — the heart must be open, not calculating.

大象The Image

《象》曰：山上有泽，咸；君子以虚受人。A lake set upon the mountain: the image of Influence. The noble one, accordingly, keeps himself empty so as to receive others.

六爻The Six Lines

初六Initial Six

初六，咸其拇。Influence reaching the big toe.

刚刚有感觉，但还停留在脚趾——艮山初爻，山脚最远的地方——感应从最底下开始，很浅，很浅的、初步的吸引。心动是好事，但还没到要行动的时候。

The feeling has just begun, still only at the toes — Gèn's Mountain, first line, the farthest point at the foot of the mountain — resonance starting from the very bottom, very faint — a faint, first attraction. The stirring of the heart is good, but it's not yet time to act.

六二Second Six

六二，咸其腓，凶；居吉。Influence reaching the calves. Misfortune. To stay still: good fortune.

感觉走到了小腿——有想行动的冲动，艮山居中——小腿有了反应，但山体还没动，动就坏了，贸然出手会有风险。安静等待时机，吉。

The feeling has reached the calves — there's an urge to act, Gèn's Mountain centered — the calves have responded, but the body of the mountain hasn't moved; to move now spoils it — but moving rashly carries risk. Wait quietly for the right moment: good fortune.

九三Third Nine

九三，咸其股，执其随，往吝。Influence reaching the thighs, clinging to what it follows. Going forward: humiliation.

感觉到了大腿——艮山唯一的阳爻——山最硬的地方，却控制不住跟着别人走，已经控制不住要追随对方了。但这种被牵着鼻子走的状态，不太好。

The feeling has reached the thighs — the one yang line of Gèn — the hardest part of the mountain, yet unable to stop itself following another — you can no longer help chasing after the other. But this state of being led by the nose is not a good one.

九四Fourth Nine

九四，贞吉，悔亡；憧憧往来，朋从尔思。Steadfast and upright: good fortune. Regret vanishes. Restless coming and going — friends follow your thoughts.

用纯正的心去感应才是吉的，兑泽初爻——水面波动，来来去去的念头太多，但你的心不专一——犹豫、纠结、想得太多。心定下来，感应才真。

It's a true heart that makes resonance auspicious — Duì's Lake, first line — the water's surface rippling, too many thoughts coming and going — but your heart isn't single. You waver, agonize, overthink. Settle the heart, and the resonance becomes real.

九五Fifth Nine

九五，咸其脢，无悔。Influence reaching the upper back. No regret.

感觉到了背部——兑泽居中，背对背的感应——有点疏远，不深，有点疏远的感应，不深。虽然不会出错，但也激不起什么火花。

The feeling has reached the back — Duì's Lake centered, a back-to-back resonance — a little distant, not deep — a faint, distant resonance, not deep. It won't go wrong, but it can't strike any sparks either.

上六Top Six

上六，咸其辅颊舌。Influence reaching the jaw, cheeks, and tongue.

只剩下口头表达感情——兑泽到极处，水泛到嘴边——只剩嘴上的话了，真情都没了，只剩嘴上说说。这种关系已经失了根，要警觉。

Only words of feeling are left — Duì's Lake at its extreme, the water risen to the lips — only the words on the tongue remain — the real feeling is gone, just talk. A relationship like this has lost its root; be on guard.
