卦辞The Judgement
离：利贞，亨；畜牝牛吉。Lí. Favorable to be steadfast and upright. Prosperous and smooth. Raising a cow: good fortune.
找到对的方向、对的人、对的依靠——“附丽”是当下的关键。离居南方，五行属火——双离相叠，光明相继。南方是“相见乎离”之位，万物在此显现。火不能自己悬空，必须附着在燃料上才能燃烧——这就是“附丽”的真义。不要单打独斗——依附于光明、正道、靠谱的力量，借势而行。但要选对依附的对象。
Finding the right direction, the right people, the right thing to depend on — "clinging" is the key now. Lí sits in the south, element Fire — two Lí stacked, light following light. The south is the place of "meeting in Lí," where all things show themselves. Fire cannot hang in the void; it must cling to fuel to burn — this is the true meaning of clinging. Don't go it alone — attach yourself to the light, to the right path, to a reliable force, and move with its momentum. But choose well what you cling to.
大象The Image
《象》曰：明两作，离；大人以继明照于四方。Brightness rising doubled: the image of the Clinging. The great one, accordingly, carries on the light, illuminating the four quarters.
六爻The Six Lines
初九，履错然，敬之，无咎。The footsteps are confused. Tread with reverence. No fault.
刚踏入新环境时，保持谦虚、谨慎、敬意——离火初爻，火刚点着——火光还不稳，脚步要轻，这种姿态能避开很多坑。新人就该有新人的样子。
Stepping into a new situation, stay humble, careful, and respectful — Lí's Fire, first line, the flame just lit — the light still unsteady, so tread lightly — this bearing sidesteps a lot of pitfalls. A newcomer should carry himself like one.
六二，黄离，元吉。Yellow radiance. Sublime good fortune.
保持中正、温和的状态——离火居中，黄色是火最正的颜色——不红不蓝，纯正柔和，既不偏激也不软弱。这是最美好的状态——不需要装，本色就是最好。
Holding to a centered, gentle state — Lí's Fire centered, yellow the truest color of fire — not red, not blue, pure and mild — neither extreme nor weak. This is the most beautiful state — no need to put on a show; your true colors are the best.
九三，日昃之离，不鼓缶而歌，则大耋之嗟，凶。The radiance of the setting sun. Not drumming the pot and singing, but sighing in the grief of old age. Misfortune.
状态进入下半场（日落西山）——离火到三爻——太阳偏西，再不唱歌天就黑了，再不调整心态、找到乐趣，就只剩下衰老的叹息了。要么及时享乐，要么转向新方向。
You've entered the second half (the sun sinking west) — Lí's Fire at the third line — the sun tilting west; sing now or the sky goes dark — If you don't adjust your attitude and find some joy, all that's left is the sigh of aging. Either take your pleasure in time, or turn toward something new.
九四，突如其来如，焚如，死如，弃如。It comes all of a sudden — blazing up, dying down, cast away.
突然爆发的气势——离火到四爻——火光冲天，烧完就没了，燃烧、炽烈、然后熄灭。来势汹汹却不持久——警惕这种“突如其来”的虚火。
A sudden surge of momentum — Lí's Fire at the fourth line — flames leaping to the sky, then nothing once they've burned out — blazing, fierce, then gone out. Coming on strong but not lasting — beware this kind of "flash fire."
六五，出涕沱若，戚嗟若，吉。Tears streaming, sighing in grief. Good fortune.
面对困境流泪、哀叹——离火居中但阴爻——光被压住了，哭出来反而释放了热量，但因为身处尊位、有人帮忙，最终能渡过。情绪释放是好的，憋着反而更糟。
Weeping and sighing in the face of hardship — Lí's Fire centered but a yin line — the light pressed down, and weeping it out releases the heat — but because you hold the honored place and have support, you come through in the end. Releasing the emotion is good; bottling it up is worse.
上九，王用出征，有嘉折首，获匪其丑，无咎。The king launches an expedition. There is a great achievement: striking off the leaders, taking captive those who would not submit. No fault.
采取强硬手段处理首领级的问题——离火到极处——最亮的光用来照清首恶，不是烧光一切，目的是清理整顿，不是赶尽杀绝。分清主次，集中处理关键问题就够了。
Taking firm measures against a leader-level problem — Lí's Fire at its extreme — the brightest light used to expose the chief offender, not to burn everything down — the aim is to clean up and set in order, not to wipe out everyone. Sort the principals from the followers, and deal with the key problem alone.
