坎上 · 震下Water over Thunder
卦辞The Judgement
屯：元亨，利贞；勿用有攸往，利建侯。Zhūn. Sublime in origin, prosperous in growth. Favorable to be steadfast and upright. Do not act lightly; there is somewhere to go. Favorable to establish feudal lords.
事情刚开始，处境艰难是正常的。下震为雷，属木，居东方，是万物始生之位；上坎为水，居北方，是险陷之所。水生木，本是滋养，但水太大，刚冒的芽会被冲走——这就是屯。不要急着大动作，先把根基打牢。这时找到对的人来辅助你（建立靠谱的合作关系、找到导师），比单打独斗有用得多。守住正道，不冒进，慢慢就通了。
Things are just getting started, and the rough conditions are normal. The lower trigram Zhèn is Thunder, element Wood, in the east — the place where all things first stir to life; the upper trigram Kǎn is Water, in the north, the seat of danger. Water generates Wood, which should nourish it — but the flood is too strong, and the sprout just breaking ground gets washed away — this is Zhūn. Don't rush into grand moves — focus first on laying solid foundations. Right now, finding the right people to support you (the right partnership, the right mentor) matters more than going it alone. Stay on the right path, don't push too fast, and the way will open.
大象The Image
《象》曰：云雷，屯；君子以经纶。Cloud and thunder together: the image of Sprouting Difficulty. The noble one, accordingly, brings order out of the tangle by weaving things together.
六爻The Six Lines
初九，磐桓，利居贞，利建侯。Hesitating, lingering. Favorable to dwell in steadfastness. Favorable to establish feudal lords.
面对困境时不必硬冲，原地踏步、稳扎稳打反而是上策。震木初爻，阳炁在下——根要扎得深，才能破土而出。这时去结交同伴、招揽人才、建立基础最有用。看似停滞，其实在为后面的爆发蓄力。
When trouble blocks the way, don't bull through. Standing still, building steadily, is the right move. Zhèn's Wood, first line, the yang force down at the base — the root must dig deep before it can break through the soil. This is the time to make friends, gather talent, lay foundations. What looks like stagnation is actually pressure building for the breakthrough.
六二，屯如，邅如。乘马班如，匪寇婚媾；女子贞不字，十年乃字。Beginning is hard; turning back, uncertain. Riders on horseback advance in numbers — they are not robbers, but suitors. The maiden, steadfast, will not give her name. After ten years she marries.
处境艰难，坎水临身，二爻陷在坎底——进退两难，像骑马原地打转，看上去糟糕的事其实是好事——比如来势汹汹的人不是敌人而是机会。但要有耐心，事情不会立刻明朗。可能要等很久，但最终会有结果。
Kǎn's Water presses close, the second line trapped at the bottom of the pit — stuck between advance and retreat, like a horse turning in place. Things look bad on the surface but may be good underneath — for instance, a force that seems threatening may turn out to be an opportunity. Be patient; clarity won't come quickly. You may have to wait a long time, but the result will be worth it.
六三，即鹿无虞，惟入于林中；君子几，不如舍，往吝。Chasing deer without a guide, going only deep into the forest. The superior person sees the signs: better to give up. Pressing on brings regret.
贸然追求目标但没有内行带路，震木向上冲，但六三阴爻失位——想进进不了，像追鹿追进密林，没有向导就是死路，注定徒劳。聪明人此时会主动放弃这次的追逐——不是认输，是认清条件不够。硬要往前推，只会越陷越深。
Rushing after a goal without insider guidance is wasted effort. Zhèn's Wood drives upward, but the third line is a yin line out of place — wanting to advance yet unable, like chasing a deer into deep woods with no guide: a dead end. The smart move now is to give up this chase — not as defeat, but as recognition that the conditions aren't right. Pushing further only sinks you deeper.
六四，乘马班如，求婚媾；往吉，无不利。Riders advance in numbers, seeking a union. Going forward: good fortune. Nothing is unfavorable.
主动求助、主动出击、主动表达意愿，正是最好的时机。六四阴爻居坎水之上，水势已缓——险境正在松动。不要被动等待——你需要的合作或转机，要靠自己迈出那一步去争取。
Take initiative — ask for help, make the first move, voice your intent. This is the right moment. The fourth line, yin, rests above Kǎn's Water, and the current has eased — the danger is loosening its grip. Don't wait passively. The partnership or breakthrough you need has to be claimed by you stepping out.
九五，屯其膏。小，贞吉；大，贞凶。Holding back his bounty. In small matters, steadfastness brings good fortune; in great matters, steadfastness guards against misfortune.
你想给身边的人好处，但目前能力或资源还有限——只能小施小惠。九五虽居尊位，但陷在坎水之中——水源有限，施恩不能太大方。小范围帮忙没问题，但别勉强承担超出能力的承诺，否则反受其累。
You want to help the people around you, but your capacity or resources are still limited — small gifts only. The fifth line holds the honored place yet is mired in Kǎn's Water — the source is limited, so generosity cannot run too wide. Small-scale help is fine, but don't take on commitments larger than you can carry, or you'll end up trapped by your own generosity.
上六，乘马班如，泣血涟如。Riders advance in numbers, but with no response. Weeping blood, tears flowing.
走到了死胡同，反复求助但无人响应，只能黯然伤心。上六在坎卦之极，水最深、险最大——又阴爻压顶，没有出路。这种时候硬撑没意义——接受现实、止损、寻找全新的方向，比抱着旧希望泪流满面更有出路。
You've come to a dead end, asking for help over and over with no one answering, and there's nothing left but grief. The top line sits at the extreme of Kǎn — water at its deepest, danger at its greatest — and a yin line bears down on it: no way out. There's no point pushing further here — accept the loss, cut your losses, and look for an entirely new direction. That serves you better than crying over the old hope.
