艮上 · 坤下Mountain over Earth
卦辞The Judgement
剥：不利有攸往。Bō. Unfavorable to have somewhere to go.
正在经历剥落、衰退、消解——大势对你不利。坤土在下属土居西南，艮山在上属土居东北——山高高在上，但底下的土在一层层剥落。山和地都是土，本是同类，但剥卦是下面的土撑不住上面的山了。不要逆流而上，硬碰硬只会受伤。这时要保住根本、等待转机。看似全是坏消息，但“硕果不食”——总有种子留下。
You're going through a stripping-away, a decline, a dissolution — the larger trend is against you. Kūn's Earth below sits in the southwest, Gèn's Mountain above in the northeast — the mountain stands high, but the earth beneath it is flaking away layer by layer. Mountain and land are both Earth, kindred by nature, but in the Stripping hexagram the earth below can no longer hold up the mountain above. Don't swim against the current; meeting force with force will only hurt you. Now is the time to protect the root and wait for the turn. It may look like nothing but bad news, but "the great fruit goes uneaten" — a seed is always left.
大象The Image
《象》曰：山附于地，剥；上以厚下安宅。The mountain clings to the earth: the image of Splitting Apart. Those above, accordingly, secure their place by being generous to those below.
六爻The Six Lines
初六，剥床以足，蔑；贞凶。Stripping the bed at the legs. Eroded. Steadfastness: misfortune.
破坏从最底层开始——基础在被侵蚀。坤土初爻——床脚先烂，根子上的问题。这时反抗已经晚了，要提前看到苗头、保住根基。
The damage begins at the lowest level — the foundation is being eroded. Kūn's Earth, first line — the legs of the bed rot first, the problem at the very root. By the time you'd resist it's too late; you have to see the early signs and protect the base in advance.
六二，剥床以辨，蔑；贞凶。Stripping the bed at the frame. Eroded. Steadfastness: misfortune.
破坏在加深——已经从地基蔓延到结构。坤土居中——床板开始裂了。如果还没醒悟、没盟友，处境会越来越凶险。
The damage is deepening — it's spread from the base to the structure. Kūn's Earth centered — the frame of the bed begins to crack. With no awakening and no allies, your situation only grows more perilous.
六三，剥，无咎。Falling away. No fault.
在不利的环境中也能不被卷入——坤土到三爻——周围都在塌，但这一块土还硬着，保持自己的立场和清白。即使周围都在堕落，你不参与就没事。
Even in a hostile environment, you can stay uninvolved — Kūn's Earth at the third line — all around is collapsing, but this one patch of ground still holds firm — keeping your stance and your integrity. Though everything around you is corroding, you're fine as long as you don't take part.
六四，剥床以肤，凶。Stripping the bed up to the skin. Misfortune.
破坏已经接近你的肉身——六四进入艮山——山体开始压下来，床塌到皮肤了，危险已经贴身了。这时不能再观望，要立刻采取行动避险。
The damage has reached your own skin — the fourth line enters Gèn's Mountain — the mountain begins to press down, the bed collapsing to the skin — the danger is right up against you. This is no longer a time to watch and wait; you have to act at once to get clear.
六五，贯鱼以宫人宠，无不利。A string of fish. Favor like that shown the palace women. Nothing is unfavorable.
在逆境中通过有秩序的合作（贯鱼）依附正确的力量。六五阴爻居艮山中——山还在，没全塌，找到组织就有救。即使大势不利，跟对人、做对事，也能保平安。
In adversity, attach yourself to the right power through orderly cooperation (the fish on a string). the fifth line, yin, within Gèn's Mountain — the mountain still stands, not yet fully fallen; find the group and there's a way out. Even when the larger trend is against you, following the right person and doing the right thing keeps you safe.
上九，硕果不食，君子得舆，小人剥庐。A great fruit left uneaten. The superior person gains a carriage; the petty person's house is stripped away.
最后还有一颗大果子（硕果不食）——核心的东西保住了。艮山到极处——山顶最后一颗果子，没人摘，种子就在里面。君子能借此重新崛起，小人则会自取灭亡。最坏的时刻，也藏着最大的希望。
One great fruit still remains ("left uneaten") — the core thing is preserved. Gèn's Mountain at its extreme — the last fruit on the summit, unpicked, the seed still inside it. The superior person can rise again from it; the petty person only brings ruin on himself. At the very worst moment, the greatest hope is hidden.
