艮上 · 巽下Mountain over Wind
卦辞The Judgement
蛊：元亨，利涉大川；先甲三日，后甲三日。Gǔ. Sublimely prosperous and smooth. Favorable to cross great rivers. Three days before the turning, three days after.
积累已久的弊病、问题、错误需要彻底整治。巽风在下属木居东南，艮山在上属土居东北——风被山压住，吹不出去，在山脚下打转，东西都捂烂了。木克土，风本该把山吹散，现在却困在山里，这就是腐败的根源。逃避或修修补补没用——要正视根本、果断改革。这是涉险渡河、推倒重来的时候，但只要做了，就会通泰。
Long-accumulated ills, problems, and mistakes need a thorough fixing. Xùn's Wind below is element Wood, in the southeast; Gèn's Mountain above is element Earth, in the northeast — the wind is pinned under the mountain, unable to blow out, swirling at the mountain's foot until everything festers. Wood checks Earth; the wind should scatter the mountain, but here it's trapped inside it, and this is the root of the rot. Avoidance and patchwork won't do — you have to face the root and reform decisively. This is the moment to cross dangerous waters and rebuild from the ground up; but once you do it, things open into peace.
大象The Image
《象》曰：山下有风，蛊；君子以振民育德。Wind blows beneath the mountain: the image of Decay to be Repaired. The noble one, accordingly, rouses the people and fosters their character.
六爻The Six Lines
初六，干父之蛊，有子考，无咎，厉终吉。Remedying the father's decay. There is a worthy son; the late father is free of fault. Adversity, but in the end good fortune.
继承父辈或前任留下的问题，要勇于承担、敢于改正。巽风初爻，风刚起——在根部就开始清理，效果最好。前面会有些艰难和风险，但最终是好事——能修复历史遗留问题的人最值得尊敬。
Inheriting the problems left by a parent or predecessor, you must have the courage to take them on and the will to put them right. Xùn's Wind, first line, the wind just rising — clearing at the root is where it works best. There's some hardship and risk ahead, but it ends well — those who can repair the legacy of the past are the most worthy of respect.
九二，干母之蛊，不可贞。Remedying the mother's decay. Not fit to be rigidly steadfast.
面对老一辈或母亲一方留下的问题，要柔和处理，巽木居中，风最柔和——不能用强硬手段，轻风拂面才有效，不能用强硬手段。坚持原则没问题，但方式要委婉，否则会伤了情分。
Facing problems left by an older generation or the mother's side, handle them gently — Xùn's Wood centered, the wind at its softest — no harsh methods; a light breeze on the face is what works — force won't work. Keep your principles, but be tactful in your method, or you'll wound the relationship.
九三，干父之蛊，小有悔，无大咎。Remedying the father's decay. Slight regret. No great fault.
改革旧弊时手段稍微激烈了点，巽风到三爻，风力变强——吹得猛了点，有点小遗憾，会留下些小遗憾，但整体没大问题。事后可能后悔某些细节，但方向是对的。
Reforming the old ills, your methods ran a bit hot, Xùn's Wind at the third line, the wind strengthening — it blew a touch too hard, a small regret — leaving some small regret — but on the whole no real problem. You may second-guess some of the details afterward, but the direction was right.
六四，裕父之蛊，往见吝。Tolerating the father's decay. Going forward brings humiliation.
对积弊的问题睁一眼闭一眼、不去触碰——六四阴爻进入艮山——山压下来，风停了，问题被捂住，结果是问题越拖越严重。该面对的迟早要面对，拖延只会让代价更大。
Turning a blind eye to entrenched problems, never touching them — the fourth line, yin, enters Gèn's Mountain — the mountain bears down, the wind stops, the problem smothered shut — the result is that they grow worse the longer they're left. What has to be faced will have to be faced eventually; delay only raises the price.
六五，干父之蛊，用誉。Remedying the father's decay. Winning praise.
用智慧和德行来解决遗留问题，六五阴爻居艮山之中——山虽重但以柔化之，不硬碰，而不是粗暴的革命。这种方式会赢得各方称赞，是高级的处理方式。
Use wisdom and character to resolve the inherited problems, the fifth line, yin, in the middle of Gèn's Mountain — the mountain is heavy but works through softness, no head-on clash — not blunt force. Handled this way, it wins you praise on all sides — a high-grade way to deal with things.
上九，不事王侯，高尚其事。Not serving kings and lords; he holds his own pursuit in highest honor.
选择不卷入世俗事务，专注自己的修养或专业——艮山到最高处——山已到顶，风在脚下，上面一片清净，这种独善其身的态度，是给后人留下榜样。不是逃避，是更高的追求。
Choosing not to entangle yourself in worldly affairs, but to devote yourself to your own cultivation or craft — Gèn's Mountain at its highest — the mountain has reached its peak, the wind down at its foot, and above all is clear and still — — this kind of self-perfection sets an example for those who come after. Not escape, but a higher pursuit.
